The Story So Far . . .

By the year 2287 the population of Earth had almost fizzled out, not from war or disease so much as from apathy. As civilisation dropped below the critical mass, the trappings of modern life faded away and people survived as best as they could, living on the leftovers of past generations.

Into this sad state of affairs came a super-hero. A creature from a galaxy beyond galaxies past the end of time. A creature who would eventually lead humankind back from the brink, back into a new Eden, maybe. A creature who is known as Ethel the Chicken.

We gasped with Amazement as Ethel raised skyscrapers from the dead.
We groaned with Bewilderment as Jay razed skyscrapers to the ground.
We wept with Joy as Kay was rescued from an eternity behind the filing cabinets.
We felt Slightly Nauseous as Douglas was created from odds and ends in a cryonic laboratory.
We had our taste buds Taunted in an exciting and almost delirious way as Merlin created the greatest soup in the Universe.
And we listened in Slightly Open Mouthed Semi-Wonder as The Oracle dispensed her wisdom.

Finally we gazed in Humble Awestruck Confusion before the wonder of The Blind Piano Tuner.

We left book one overjoyed at the news that Kay was pregnant.

Jay, Kay and The Blind Piano Tuner have left Earth in Merlin's battered spaceship, the Desperalda, while the old wizard and Douglas have stayed behind to do housework, catch up on the paperwork and do a few great deeds.
